Though a not so secret attraction, hiking on the Sóheimajökull Glacier was a surreal experience - "am I really on a glacier right now?!" The black is ash left over from the volcano that erupted a few years ago. It was nice to step away from the cozy tourist stops, and do some mildly strenuous hiking.
